Setting the Scene

I stepped into Alpiana in the spring: apple orchards in full blossom, a gentle warmth in the air and crisp mountain mornings. The surrounding valleys of the Merano region offer a mild alpine climate — 300 days of sunshine a year, soft breezes under the shadow of the high peaks — which makes it the perfect season for combining wholesome wellness with the joy of nature. I am sure the summer and autumn have their highlights as well due to the little mini climate that sits here, but I fell for it in the Spring!

Wellness, Pools and Soulful Relaxation

Wellness lies at the heart of the Alpiana experience. The resort boasts a spacious 2,000 m² spa that spreads across three levels — a serene sanctuary where water, warmth and natural materials combine in elegant harmony.

There’s a pool landscape with five pools (water surface ~570 m²), including indoor and outdoor pools, a salt-water pool and a heated garden pool — each offering different moods of calm, refreshment or light-hearted splashing.

For deeper tranquillity, the “ALCIELO” Sky Spa is a standout: a 360° panoramic rooftop spa where you can float or rest while gazing at the mountains. Private spa treatments, saunas, steam rooms, relaxation lounges and a wellness garden further enhance the restful ambience.

Whether you want to drift in water, drift into daydreams on a lounge by the pools, or enjoy a massage or facial — Alpiana offers a full spectrum of relaxation, in settings that feel both luxurious and intimately connected to nature.

A Retreat for the Whole Family

Alpiana isn’t just for couples/solo’s and friends seeking calm — this is one of my featured properties I am going to say is wonderfully suited to families too. The resort offers a dedicated Kids’ House and children’s playroom, a garden playground, and an outdoor playground with trampoline, climbing wall, slides and sandbox. Children are given their own space to explore, play and unwind while parents enjoy a moment of serenity.

There are also family-friendly rooms and suites, offering comfort and space for the whole household.

For older kids (or adventurous little ones), the location invites exploration. The surrounding region is ideal for gentle hikes, e-bike tours or a fun day trip to Lakes, Rivers for canoe and kayak and up in the cable car!

If you want wellness but also want your children to laugh, play and discover — Alpiana offers the perfect balance of tranquillity and family-friendly adventure.

Why I chose Alpiana, Sudtirol, Dolomites

Alpiana captures everything I love about South Tyrol — Family run for generations, gentle warmth, alpine clarity and that unique Italian-German harmony reflected in its food and people. Schnitzel meets pasta, mountain herbs meet orchard-fresh produce and every meal feels rooted in the landscape.

Its design is just as thoughtful, with natural woods and glass that frame the orchards and mountains, bringing the outside in with a nourishing sense of space. Whether by the pools, in the spa or waking up to garden views, you always feel close to nature. Restful yet invigorating, luxurious yet warm — it’s the perfect place for couples or families seeking wellness, nature and comfort in one beautifully balanced setting.
