Cyprus: Out-of-Season Sunshine and Standout Luxury

A recent visit to Cyprus for a travel conference brought me to the hotel-lined coast near Paphos—a stretch well-suited for a relaxing off-season escape. With warm weather lingering long after summer’s end, it’s an ideal destination for switching off. The hotel strip offers a variety of stays catering to different styles and budgets, for a warm, out of season hotel experience – it’s a good option.

The highlight of my trip, however, was a site inspection at Cap St Georges Hotel & Resort—a truly standout property that left a lasting impression. Set on the rugged coastline near Peyia, just west of Paphos, this five-star resort combines dramatic views, elegant design and world-class facilities in one stunning package. Its larger than my taste would really go for but its style and vibe over ruled my normal feelings.

Rooms are spacious and beautifully designed, with crisp lines, luxurious finishes and private terraces—all with sea views. Everything feels thought-through and indulgent without being overdone.

Dining here is a true highlight, with refined Mediterranean cuisine infused with local flavours alongside excellent Italian fare and vibrant Asian fusion. For more relaxed moments, the beach club offers casual bites and cocktails as the sun sets, creating the perfect atmosphere to unwind.

The vibe is chic but easy going, with plenty to do if you want it—spa treatments, water sports, coastal hikes or boat trips to the Blue Lagoon. But really, Cap St Georges is all about switching off in style – you may even get to see a Seal!
